Digital Experiments: Camera Obscura Workshop

This small workshop wants to establish a bridge between digital technology and the origins of cinema. It is also about understanding the processes that have made possible the image-movement, exploring an aesthetic that we can conceive from the camera, without the need for filters or functions. If our cameras allow instant manipulation of the image we record, why not transform it to experiment with it? The results will be as complex as those of our imagination.

Participants must bring their own interchangeable lens reflex cameras (Canon, Sony, Panasonic) no matter the model. It is not essential that everyone has cameras and you can work in groups of two.

Andrés Duque

Spain, 2018

90 min + 60 min

Place: Cinema Orion

Eerikinkatu 15, Helsinki

Tickets: 8-10€

Open talk: Documentary in the edges of history, politics and fiction

Dialogue with the filmmaker Andrés Duque where he will tour his work, marked by a strong essay and experimental component. His work proposes trips that are both geographic and mental. An original look away from the canons of the industry. In this session we start from Karelia - place where Duque filmed his most recent film - and we will be drawing a cartography that will lead us to his first film Iván Z where we will arrive at his first cinephile image. The cinema as a journey of discovery and encounters is definitely, what the author will propose in this hour session.
